Just saw that my last blog post is almost a year ago, im such a slacker.
So in other news, I might as well copy that previous blog post cause I just played an Unibet Open again (Golden Sands), although I decided to cut it back on expensive MTT's, the location made the difference on this one. I havent been in Bulgary yet and can't say no to sun & beach.
And in other words, I'll be going to vegas again leaving thursday the 17th. I'm totally fucked on the flights, I went supercheapo searching the web for hours trying to squeeze every €, I have no idea what i was thinking I must have been losing that day
Cause now i'll be going to vegas and back for 570€, but I will first visit Montreal and Chicago before landing in Vegas, ofc with the necessary time in between to just chill out at the airport. LOL ive countless time considered cancelling but it costs me the same to cancel, + a new ticket would end me up with ~2K, and I'm still considering it the flight schedule is THAT bad + I kind of am afraid of flying so yea :D guess that is what i get for being a cheapskate.
Ill be staying there for the longest time so far, a solid 20 days. Wonder if I make it so long, cause I recall myself being sick and tired of vegas after 2 weeks the last 2 trips. However this time around I'm gonna grind alot more, while last 2 times I hardly played much poker. Im planning to grind the 500NL everywhere in town and maybe the 1000NL and hopefully not the 200NL. Some mtt's on the side as there are plenty of series running again.
I'll be staying at the Encore for 1 week, Excalibur for 1 week and Aria for 1 week.
What happened in this year pokerwise? Hopefully I got better. I still play only HU cash, my maingame is still 200NL with the occasional 400NL and rarely higher.
The action lately has been pretty bad and I have been putting a lot less hands in then when I used to play more 100NL, where the action was alot more consistent and easier to grind all day. Now its more like wait half the day, play 1 hour, hope he doesnt run hot and hit and runs. Rince and repeat.
Have had some sick winning months for myself, and also a sick losing month sadly, but i guess my bankroll grew as a total so I guess we shouldnt complain although I'm not really satisfied about my results the last 3 months. Ive been making some fundamental mistakes recently that reminded me that you do outgrow poker if you lose it out of sight, which kind of happend the last months where i played hardly any poker to my standards.
Portugal was nice, sweet weekend but nothing more. Didn't get passed day 1 so that's too bad.
Since portugal I'm pretty much only playing HU cash. That is working out great, I ventured in it couple of times before but never as in depth as my SH-game. Now it's basicly my maingame, as a matter of fact I can't remember the last time I sat on a 6max-table.
I feel this game is more tailored for me, its an even purer form of poker, I think your whole skillset is magnified, but above it makes for some heavy sick matches. I'm still doubting if I will play the UPO in Prague in I think september. Thing is I haven't missed a UPO so far, and Prague is the last location I haven't been to in their tour.. On the other hand these MTT's slow down my progress significantly considering I spend like ~2.5K avg so far on each trip.
Anyway it's all been great fun so far so it's def not that
This is kinda in contradiction to me going all out in Vegas How can I possibly skip vegas after having such a blast there last year. Leaving on wednesday for what initially was a 8-day trip, but I was a fucking retard when scheduling it (I was coming home on a thursday..) so now I booked some more untill sunday. First week in Caesars Palace, for last 4 days I picked Bally's, a little bit cheaper. Well the fact it's the weekend of 4th of july (independence day) makes cheap kinda relative . Last time I briefly visited bally's it looked like one of the more decent of the "cheaper" hotels. Dnno we'll see what's what.
Not decided yet if I will play a WSOP event, I'll prlly decide that last minute, fact is there are better tournaments with still a nice turnout, same or slightly more/less buyin, and a lot better structure. But yeah.. those give no bracelets i guess
Resultswise I can't really complain, have a great coach for some time now and I am very very satisfied by the amount of 'aha'-moments he delivered me so far. Haven't really put up that much volume though, obv less then my standard 6max volume, but I mean like 15K/month is not really much even for HU. But that will change in august where I can free up some time again and I'm aiming for 30K/month there.
Edit: I think it will be more convenient to report via twitter for chip stacks and what not, u can follow me around via http://www.twitter.com/ChequeRaise
Ok cause this is way too long you will fall asleep, press play on the youtube before you start reading.
You probably don't know me, cause I never post. Buuuut I started poker/build my roll via this site and kept a active blog here for quite a while. recently got the question to keep my blog updated cause its so fucking awesome cool. so yeah what can I do.. I will start try to update this now and then.
So what's up with me? I still play NL200 cause I'm a fucking slacker who plays too much and studies too little. But at least I know and I'm changing that, the thing is I know I have to study to get up in the ladder, and I bought/have the content needed to do that, I just always keep delaying it or study very little. my ratio study/play was like 1:4. But truth to be told, I do not yet crush 200NL at all, so that is just unacceptable.
Another reason is that I keep doing impulsive stuff where I am not rolled for, buying expensive things, subscribing for big live events (I played all the UPO's so far, payed 2 completely on my behalf, also Belgian Championship, other misc donkaments in live casinos)
For the past like 5 months my bankroll goes like 10K - 15K - 10K - 15K - 10K, feeding myself with the rakeback.
I had like 4 400NL shots total that basicly all ended up in me losing 1 or 2 months of hard work 200NL grinding. Yeah. I am sebastian and I got a leak.
We'll see what we can do about it anyhow. But that's mainly what's up since my last post.
Now since 2 weeks I started working (after graduating last year june), I got a really cool offer from a buddy pokerplayer Lemon. It is soo easy to get a job if your sollicitor is a pokerplayer who knows you
I got rejected like 5/5 (atm its fkcing ridic hard to get a job w/o experience, even if you crush the retardo experience designers, and if you make a chance there are like 100 applicatns lol) before I got this one. But with this job I really hit the homerun, it was basicly what I was doing for fun (besides progaming) before poker; graphic design.
My actual title is Marketing Manager, pretty fucking cool figuring this is my first job ever. I'm basicly responsible for all marketing and multimedia stuff in our firm.
I still haven't decided yet whats highest priority in my life atm, this job or poker. I kinda got a job cause my life was f*cked. For a year I lived like avg 2PM-6AM. Doing nothing but poker and going out. U could argue that it is fucking great, but I invite you to try it for an extended time and at some point you will feel the emptyness. So I basicly said, if I can find something that I really really like to do, something where I can motivate myself for, I will take it.
Still I made more and still make more each month then my miserable starting salary, its really not much I cant believe ppl have to live on that. Yet so far I feel it's the right thing to experience work life.
It could change quickly though.. :D cause pokerwise I subscribed obviously to Unibet Open Algarve (bought in) for some Portugese ownage. So that will end up like 3 days vacation (+2 weekenddays). And I also booked my Vegas trip for the year (24june-1july) (I even shortened it by 1 week then planned just to dont overdo it with my job in mind! )
Yet I have not asked for vacation yet, legally I dont even am eligible for vacation the first year haha. We'll see how that will turn out. The thing is, for the moment, although I love it, I am not depended on it like everybody else. I guess I'll ask it soon for the first vacation, the vegas vacation I'll wait for a while until I put that up. Well it's not really asking although I will pretend..
For vegas I gambled my hotel via hotwire.com. Perfect site for degens, you just see the price and the stars/location, you decide, and you only get to see what hotel you got after you paid. I 'luckboxed' Caesars Palace for 90$ a day, a steal imo.
Not decided yet if I will play any WSOP events, but it's definatly not an enjoy-only vacation. I'm determined to grind the Venetian deepstack extravangza/Caesars Megastack series and maaaybe cashgames. But also plan to enjoy it to the fullest obv, the thing I really regret from last time is I only saw one show, so I will make up bigtime for that, especially magic, I looove magic. Pen&teller inc.
And the other thing I regret is eating way too cheap, so def will replace some food courts with decent restaurants, especially a sushi one.
Anyway rambling too long fuck you all im going to bed have to work tomorrow. untill next time, keep it safe. peace
